How long have you been doing what you do, and how did you become a Life Coach and confidence mentor?
To answer this question, it’s probably best that I share with you a defining moment, and resulting “compelling story”, that brought me to where I am today – coaching moms like you on exactly what to do to become more healthy and raise healthier families.
At a very young age, I learned, or at least I thought, that food can hurt you. My mom was a diabetic and had arthritis and every chronic disease imaginable. I watched as doctors handed her insulin and needles and lists of foods she could and could not eat. It was very traumatic. My grandparents and almost everyone in my family were taking medication for something. Our family members struggled with obesity and anorexia and everything in between. I was told by many family members that these illnesses were in our families genes and that I would start developing them as well. For many years, I myself struggled with eating disorders because I thought food was bad for you.
I hated food. I only ate because I had to.
Later, I started having children and I didn’t want them to grow up sick and fat and having horrible relationships with food like the previous generations of my family. I was looking for a healthy way out. I finally heard a voice say, “Take Control of Your Life.” I came to learn that you can heal your body and reverse diseases. With food, You can reverse just about every Chronic Disease.
After having my kids I realized that I wanted to stay home with them. I also had aging parents and in laws. So nutrition was always on my mind. When my kids would get sick, I hated the thought of giving them traditional medications especially antibiotics. So I would either let their own bodies heal or I would give them herbs and natural medicines. When my child’s elementary teacher told me that my child would benefit from medication because he did not know how to sit still in class, I sought healthier food choices and natural remedies. In addition to food, I encouraged my kids to exercise. My kids became runners at a very young age. Our whole family is known as the runners in our area.
Although I was blessed to be able to stay home with my children and see first hand all the millstones of their lives, I also started to feel alone, discouraged, depressed, anxious, lost, empty as if I was drifting. I had no Idea where I was going with my life. I had many dreams but none of my own. I felt as if I was living for someone else. I started to gain weight and didn’t feel sexy anymore. I always felt tired, drained and fatigued. Something was missing. I thought I was just getting older and sick and this is how I was supposed to feel since it was in my genes. Something was missing.
A lot of moms in my community had these same challenges. They started asking me about healthy snacks. “How do you keep your kids from colds and allergies all of the time?” “You’re so fortunate to be a stay home mom, I wish I was too”. Or “Where do you get all your energy.” “Why do you look so young.” I quickly became a go-to resource for fellow moms and since I wanted to know that I had the best information available, I decided to educate myself. I became voracious for information on food, nutrition, supplementation, empowerment, spirituality, the works. Eventually, I studied integrated nutrition and fell in love.
I broke my family’s legacy of chronic diseases and started teaching other women how they can do the same: I watched their families completely change too! I have since made a commitment to dedicate the rest of my professional life to helping other women (and men on certain occasions) like me to learn how to improve their Primary Foods – Spirituality, Physical Activity, Relationship, Social Life, Career, Wealth and Joy, over-all-mindset – and their secondary foods – which is the actual Whole Foods that you consume from your plate.
Since then, I’ve started mentoring women and teaching them how they can do the same. I’ve worked with many private clients, spoken in front of groups and watch their confidence skyrocket. I have since made a commitment to dedicate the rest of my professional life coaching women, with all walks of life, to Take Control of Their Life and Live life to the Fullest. I have created Take Control of Your Life, a series of important inner and outer life, health, spirituality, wealth and fitness steps every mom needs including a positive attitude & mindset, energy, healing, confidence, joy, time freedom, flexibility, financial freedom and wealth.
